The text of the Voluntary Principles is based on a shared responsibility approach: recognizing the primary responsibility of States, it nevertheless emphasizes that private companies have a role to play in promoting respect for human rights

In the event of an allegation, even if unfounded, of complicity in a human rights violation, the management of the ISAO Group may be legally challenged.

It is essential that the Directors and Managers of the ISAO Group and related entities be able to demonstrate in all circumstances that they anticipate and act responsibly in terms of safety and respect for human rights.
