Benin: New modus operandi of the GAT

On the night of 24 to 25 November 2024, the technical base of the Roads and Buildings Company (SOROUBAT), responsible for the development and asphalting work on the Guéné-Karimama road, was targeted by an attack by suspected terrorists. Although no casualties were reported, the material losses were considerable: around twenty machines were set on fire.

This incident is part of a series of recurring attacks in the Alibori region, particularly in the commune of Karimama, revealing the persistence of the activity of terrorist groups. By attacking a construction company, the attackers appear to be seeking to hinder local development efforts, thus maintaining a climate favorable to their expansion in the region.
