Between October 12 and 17, 2024, the region has witnessed a series of brutal attacks attributed to Boko Haram, plunging local populations into a climate of fear and insecurity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Civilians Under Fire<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The departments of Mayo-Sava, Mayo-Tsanaga, and Logone-and-Chari are the most affected. Terrorists systematically target civilians, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Farmers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Motorcycle taxi drivers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shepherds<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fishermen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Students<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The toll is heavy: at least five people have lost their lives under tragic circumstances, falling victim to assaults and kidnappings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">An Escalating Threat<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Between September 28 and October 11, 2024, no less than 27 incidents were recorded. This multiplication of attacks demonstrates an alarming escalation of violence in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Defense and Security Forces&#8217; Resistance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Defense and Security Forces (DSF) are not remaining idle in the face of this threat. Notable successes include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Repelling an offensive on the Oupa\u00ef \u2013 Mtskar axis on October 13<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Countering an attack in Gans\u00e9 on October 17<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Persistent Challenges<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite these occasional successes, the situation reveals current limitations in the security apparatus:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Attack frequency remains high<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Short-term deterrence capacity is insufficient<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Risk levels remain critical in several areas<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Travel Advisory<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u26a0\ufe0f <strong>Maximum vigilance recommended<\/strong> for all travel in the region.
